Chris has been expelled for numerous misdemeanours, such as academically underachieving, urinating on school property and even having sexual intercourse with a member of staff. Devastated, he goes to Jal for advice, the two make a pact, Chris has to start applying himself and make a career, while Jal has to say “yes” to things, reverting from her naturally conservative personality. Meanwhile Tony is improving and learning to swim again after his accident, he informs Chris he is intent on getting “everything back”. Chris pulls himself together, and after a string of failed jobs, becomes an estate agent. His new-found confidence and success in employment leads to him becoming a couple with Jal. He moves into a small house he found through his job, effectively becoming a squatter. Cassie also moves in throws a party. Chris is unfaithful to Jal when Angie turns up, and they have sex in the bathroom. Jal guesses and they split up, despite his pleas. They meet up again and Chris tries to explain about his loneliness and how Jal had turned his life around, persuading Jal, they get back together. Jal then finds out that she is pregnant with Chris’ child.
