Sid is in a state of emotional despair: his best friend and role model Tony has lost his entire personality after the bus accident in the first series’, also his on/off girlfriend Cassie has moved to Scotland, and now he loses someone even closer to him after a chaotic visit from his Scottish relatives. Uncle Sandy, Sid’s estranged mother, two odd cousins, and a cruel Granddad dying from cancer join Sid and his Dad for a spot of happy families, it becomes apparent Sid’s dad’s family are abusive and ignorant to him. Sid breaks up with Cassie over a misunderstanding she was cheating on him. Sid had seen Cassie on webcam sitting on the bed near the man whilst he unbottons her bra. It is revealed the man in question was homosexual and his partner walks in as they evaluate Cassie’s choice of clothing. Sid’s dad stands up for himself to his abusive father and Uncle Sandy, forcing them to leave the house. He later drinks and smokes in happiness at his strength of character, this inadvertedly leads to his death. Sid is unable to tell anyone at school until Tony approaches him, asking him to go out for a drink, Tony still failing to recognise Sid but had been told by Jal and Chris that they were best friends and Sid was there for him during his coma. They both attend a Crystal Castles gig to which Sid eventually opens up and reveals what has happened to him to Tony on the dancefloor. Tony, who appears understanding and sympathetic (in contrast to his personality in the last series) consoles Sid on the dancefloor. Tony goes back with Sid to his house where Sid rings his mother who returns to the house to look after Sid.
